New Ventures: Portfolio Level Debt Facility for Clean Energy | Climate Finance, India 2018

SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance in India engaged financial institutions, funders, intermediaries and other SME ecosystem stakeholders over a multi-step process to co-create innovative climate finance products and mechanisms that extend access to long-term financing opportunities for “missing middle” small and growing climate-smart enterprises that struggle to advance beyond the start-up stage and multiply their contributions to climate-smart and socially inclusive economies.

The Portfolio Level Debt Facility for Clean Energy Enterprises developed by New Ventures is targeted towards closing the debt funding gap in the RE sector by creating a corpus for a portfolio of clean energy social enterprises. This aims to create enhanced impact and an overarching ecosystem development for RE off-grid enterprises, catalysing theuptake of renewable energy in India and especially reaching last-mile communities.
