SEED Starter Team Sustainable Agriculture Bungoma, Kenya

SEED empowered us by facilitating the development of our entrepreneurial skills and marketing capabilities, along with offering us great networking opportunities. We also received helpful support for product development and investor pitches.

After participating in SEED Starter, we were able to upscale our production capacity due to improved product development processes a stronger product brand. Through networking and new partnerships, we have also helped smallholder farmer associations gain new members with specialised knowledge in business planning and administration.

After receiving SEED support and capacity-building, we feel confident in our ability to secure funding and financing to mobilize existing and develop new post-harvest technologies to expand markets for local farmers.

Bakhonya Challenged Self-Help Group focuses on the creation of organic food banks and improving value chains within the Kenyan food systems, with the goal of improving food security in the region.

Bakhonya Challenged Self-Help Group aims to expand agricultural infrastructure and capitalise on emerging opportunities for strengthening food systems. This includes identifying promising indigenous crops with potential for value-addition. The enterprise also identifies and adopts promising technologies in order to retain more profits within the local economy, improve public health, and enhance economic and professional opportunities for farmers.
