Oribags Innovations (U) Ltd is a Ugandan private enterprise which makes hand-made paper bags, printing paper and jewellery from agricultural wastes. It recovers waste paper and natural fibres in an environmentally-friendly way to transform them into products for the local market; the resulting paper bags provide a better alternative to the environmentally-hazardous polythene bags used in packaging. Oribags aims to promote environmental sustainability through value addition, focussing on client needs’ satisfaction and creating rural livelihoods. The enterprise was a recipient of the 2010 SEED Award.
