Zimbabwe Sunshine Group makes use of any form of solid waste generated. The company currently diverts 75% of waste – both through the collection, recycling, and selling of recyclable materials, and also through the conversion of bio-degradable material into compost, fertilisers, and biochar. At the same time, the company is involved in environmental stewardship and provides training, runs community projects, hosts exhibitions and offers waste audits to other enterprises.

Eco-Inclusive Impacts

Zimbabwe Sunshine Group provides jobs and income safety nets for the local community, mostly youth and women. The community members are actively involved in the collection of waste material, engaging in training sessions and acting as change agents to educate others on waste separation. Currently, the enterprise diverts 75% of all waste in its facility which was established in 2017. They process 20t or organic and recovering 35t recyclable material every month.

  • Establishing the first mechanised waste transfer facility in 2017 and a vermicomposting facility and organic processing unit in 2018
