The SEED South Africa Symposium 2017 was held on April 19-20 in Pretoria. The event brought together enterprises, financial institutions, policy makers, business development service providers and representatives of the civil society to utilise the impacts of eco-inclusive enterprises for sustainable development in South and Southern Africa.

More than 200 entrepreneurs, practitioners, investors and policy makers made the SEED South Africa Symposium on March 15-16th 2016 a great success. Focusing on the overarching topic Unlocking capital, boosting support the Symposium once again demonstrated its high value in collaboratively discussing and developing approaches to build the ecosystem for eco-entrepreneurship in South Africa.

More than 500 entrepreneurs, researchers, policy makers and representatives of the civil society from 30 countries joined the SEED Africa Symposium on September 9-10th, 2015, in Nairobi, Kenya. Focusing on the overarching theme Building Bridges for Impact the annual Symposium once again demonstrated its value as an inspiring platform for promoting green and inclusive growth through entrepreneurship.

On May 27th the SEED South Africa Symposium 2015 was held in Johannesburg in cooperation with the 3-day International Conference hosted by the University of South Africa on “Innovation for Sustainability under Climate Change and Green Growth/Economy”.

SEED Africa Symposium 2014

On 10-11 September 2014 over 320 participants from 24 countries, including 130 representatives from businesses, 70 from support institutions, 75 from civil society, and 45 policy makers gathered for the 2014 SEED Africa Symposium at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

Over 150 participants from  government,  private  sector, media, academia,  development, and  civil  society organisations, and including around 40 entrepreneurs, gathered at the CSIR in Pretoria to exchange experience, knowledge and perspectives that could advance the growth of socio-environmental entrepreneurship in South Africa.

On October 31, the 2013 SEED Symposium and International Awards Ceremony took place in Nairobi in the framework of the Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) organised by the UN Office for South-South Cooperation and hosted by UNEP. At the heart of this international forum was the showcasing of successful Southern-grown solutions to address the Millennium Development Goals.

On 29th March 2012, SEED hosted a high-level symposium on the Green Economy in Pretoria, South Africa. Expert speakers and panelists from government, civil society, industry bodies, international organizations and academia discussed the role of grassroots entrepreneurs in the Green Economy, particularly as regards low carbon and agriculture.

On 15th April 2011, nearly 200 people gathered in Pretoria to explore the role of social and environmental enterprises in shaping the Green Economy. The SEED Symposium on "The Green Economy: Accelerating the Transition", brought together start-up entrepreneurs, government leaders, international organisations, research institutions and the private sector in one of the first international meetings on this challenge.
