TARA: Green SME Finance Tool | Climate Finance, India 2018
SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance in India engaged financial institutions, funders, intermediaries and other SME ecosystem stakeholders over a multi-step process to co-create innovative climate finance products and mechanisms that extend access to long-term financing opportunities for “missing middle” small and growing climate-smart enterprises that struggle to advance beyond the start-up stage and multiply their contributions to climate-smart and socially inclusive economies.
The Green MSME Finance Tool developed by TARA serves as a one-stop-shop for banks and provides a comprehensive list of green technologies with proven models. A list of credible technology providers and vendors are matched to list technologies that meet NDC-related sustainability requirements, as well as a demand assessment of the various technologies to proof economic viability. In this way, the Tool bridges the information gap and due diligence costs can be significantly be reduced. Ultimately, the Tool will position the technologies in a credit rating system and inform the platform users thoroughly about the potential of the green technologies including a standardised metrics using SDG and NDC- related tools that assess the climate and social impact of the business models.
