Kick-Off Lab | SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance
Prototyping financial products to drive climate-smart innovation
The SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance programme in Ghana includes two hands-on and highly collaborative Practitioner Labs, beginning with the Kick-Off Lab on 30th April 2019 in Accra.
Small and growing eco-inclusive enterprises are innovating products and services that support climate change adaptation and mitigation in their target markets while driving Ghana's green economy transition. Access to capital is critical for these environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive enterprises in order to grow and scale-up their operations. However, they continue to face challenges accessing necessary capital due to limited small-scale investments and adequate financing mechanisms, leading to a “Missing Middle Financing Gap”.
SEED Practitioner Labs Climate Finance engage leading finance-focused organisations and financial institutions to co-create innovative climate-smart financial products that increase financial flows to the missing middle of small and medium-sized eco-inclusive enterprises. SEED Labs participants are empowered through ample collaboration and hands-on prototyping opportunities to turn major financing challenges into robust financial product prototypes that innovate the next generation of climate-smart finance.
The one-year Labs process leverages the extensive knowledge and networks of leading financial experts and practitioners to fortify:
- Climate Finance Product Prototypes with robust implementation roadmaps and innovative characteristics to meet the financing needs of growing eco-inclusive enterprises.
- Community of Climate Finance Innovators who are leading the creation of tangible and market-ready green economy solutions.
