How to Apply

Before applying

Please read the eligibility criteria, see what previous winners have achieved, and have a look at some of SEED Research publications on Critical Success Factors and Key Performance Indicators to help you to understand what kind of Award Winners we are looking for.

There are two ways to apply for a 2015 SEED Award:

Submissions will be accepted up till 31 March 2015, 23:59 CET. Late submissions will not be considered.

Application Process & Timetable 2015

1. Submission of Application Form - 2 February until 31 March

You can apply online or you can download an application form and email it to seedawards2015@seed.uno 

Since usually a variety of SEED Awards are available please indicate on the application form, for which Award(s) you wish to be considered. Each applicant may apply for a maximum of two Award categories.

The deadline for applications is 31 March 2015, 23:59 Central European Time (CET).

Shortlisting

2. Selection of Shortlisted Candidates - April

An internal selection team will process the applications in order to compile a shortlist of the most promising enterprises.

The shortlisting process will be through careful consideration of each application against each of the eligibility criteria

Submission of additional information

3. Submission of Additional Information - April until Mid-May

Shortlisted candidates will be requested to provide the following additional information:

  • Business plan – even if it is only a draft
  • Letter from each partner explaining their relationship to the lead organisation
  • 3 references from people in external organisations familiar with the enterprise
  • Photographs and any other relevant visual material
  • Evidence that the enterprise is women-led for the SEED Gender Equality Award

Winner selection

4. Selection of Winners - Mid-May until Mid-July

Based on the applications and the additional information, Winners will be selected by the independent SEED International Jury of external experts in sustainable development.

SEED will conduct due diligence tests and authenticate the information before the SEED Winners are finally selected. SEED will notify all applicants of the result.

SEED Support Process and Symposia

On 9-10 September 2015 Winners are profiled at the SEED Africa Symposium in Nairobi, Kenya. During 6 months, from July to December, the SEED Award Winners receive specific business support based on their needs.
