Empowering Thousands of Girls and Women in Rural Uganda and Reducing Waste by Providing Sanitary Pads from Natural Fibres
BanaPads produces affordable, effective and hygienic sanitary pads for women in Uganda, made from the natural fibres of banana plant trunks that are an abundant organic waste in agriculture. By training women to produce the sanitary pads and in how to market them to other women and schoolgirls, BanaPads works to empower women all along the value chain.
